Oh! I forgot to blog about this. :)
This was like my third gif? We did it in class. Basically our lecturer sent us an email with the numbers and all and we had to play around with it, change the timing of the frames etc. :)

Hello. :) So basically for week 17, we did our VC CA3b and had consultations with our lecturer.

For this lesson, Abigail (my partner) and I had to come up with tight sketches for our newspaper ad. She was to do three tight sketches for the visual heavy whereas I had to do the tight sketches for the copy heavy.

Sadly, majority of our ideas were not accepted. As you can see, the two pictures above are my rough ideas for our newspaper ad. In the second picture, I wanted to do something like a word search. It was suppose to be, “GRAB YOUR MILKSHAKER TODAY”.  However, our lecturer suggested that I should change it to, “REFRESH YOURSELF WITH MILKSHAKER” or, “FRESHEN UP WITH MILKSHAKER”.

Haven’t started on the final tight sketch. I guess I have to consult my lecturer again when I’m done. :)

  1. Any open house theme? Any visuals to support the theme? Explain.
For Singapore Poly, the main open house theme I noticed was, “SP+U”. The “U” in the themes are changed to fit the course for example for CASS, it’s “SP+STORIES”. The pictures are in the previous posts.
RP however, does not have any open house theme.

   2.  What are their main visuals (clue- repeated graphic element/ photo)

In SP, it was basically the big banners and wordings like, “SP+U” or “SP+STORIES” etc.
    3.  Name 3 visual communication application. Are they similar? In what ways? Please explain.

In both polytechnics, the three visual communication application were brochures, banners, signage and booth.

     4.  Which visual gives you a deep impression? Why?

For myself, it was the banners that gave a deep impression. This is because first of all, banners are big and easy to spot. If the banner had very catchy/easy to remember words, it will be stuck in my mind for weeks.

      5.  Among the 2 poly open house visuals, which do you think is more successful? Why?

In my opinion, RP’s open house visuals were more successful. This is because theirs are more colourful and easily attracted people’s attention.

      6.  What have you leaned from this exercise? (Visual Communication and Integrated marketing communication perspective). Please explain

I have learnt that in order to make your banners look attractive, not only does your banner have to be big, it has to be colourful and have bright colours. Not only those bright colours help gain attention, it will make the place more lively and less dull.

For brochures, even though it is important to give details regarding courses, it is best to not chunk all the details in the little space. Pictures or visuals are important in brochures too because it will make the brochures more interesting.

The first picture is a brochure from RP’s Mass Communication. Not all the courses/booths had a brochure. The second picture is actually a book/guide for visitors regarding the courses in RP.

Here are some pictures of RP’s booths and banners.

Here are some banners and pictures of booths (more like just the heading) from SP.

For my e-learning assignment for VC, we were told to visit Poly open houses. My classmates and I went to Singapore Poly and Republic Poly.

These are a few of the brochures that we got from SP. :)

Two gifs from After School’s Because Of You MV

Since I’m a kpop fan and I’m a HUUUUUUUGE fan of After School and Girls’ Generation, I did a few gifs from videos on Youtube. It was actually quite difficult at first but after watching tons of tutorials on Youtube and with help from my classmate, Akmal, I managed to create my own gifs. ^^

These are a few of the gifs that I have done before. :)

These are my team’s magazine cover page and spread for our CA. I really wanted to do a kpop based magazine however we found out we couldn’t. It was pretty difficult for my team members and I to find really HQ pictures for our magazines so that it won’t be pixelated when we print it. A pity though because if we had done a kpop magazine, there are tons of HQ pictures of idols.

But we saw a team from another class that had used Girls’ Generation for their magazine cover page and spread. Disappointed. ):
